Their youngest son was chancellor Niels Kaas of Tårupgård. Niels Kaas (1535-94) was the leader of the Councellor government, which took over the management, when Frederik II died at Antvorskov 4/2-1588, since the son Christian IV was only 11 years old the week after his father's death. Kaas became the king's chancellor in 1570 just before the Nordic Seven Year's war ended. He replaced Johan Friis. Niels Kaas took over (officially) the office as chancellor in 1573. He was a learned man, who contrarily to Johan Friis and rigshofmesteren Peder Oxe was not that standsbevidst (= he was not a snob). He was not interested in personal advantages either, like grabbing estate. Christoffer Valkendorf became rentemester (economy). The regency managed wisely Denmark and Norway, kept peace with all neighbours, saved instead of starting a lot of things, enlarged the navy, and Niels Kaas had a reputation of being honest, loyal and of a high moral standard. He was also titled arch dean in Roskilde. He died in 1594, 69 years old.

Ancestral Line II

1. g.:

Christoffer II ( 1276, d.1332) with a lady of the nobility-family Lunge (see I)

2. g.:
Regitze Christoffersdatter, m. to Peder Stigsøn Krognos of Krabberup at Kullen (n. 1354-65) from an ancient skånsk (Scania) - family, a son of Stig Pedersøn Krognos of Togæthorp (ment. 1327, d. 1353), who was a son of Peder Holgersøn. 2 of Regitze's sons were killed in 1359 in Middelfart together with Niels Bugge.

In Danmarks Adels Årbog 1906, page 492, is a change in the genealogical table in Danmark Adels Årbog 1893, page 272; in 1906 is pointed out that Gregers Pedersen Krognos from chronological reasons impossibly can be a son of Peder Stigsøn Krognos and Regitze Christoffersdatter Løvenbalk, but that he is a father's brother of Peder Stigsøn Krognos, i.e. that he was a brother of Peder's father Stig Pedersen Krognos.

Regitze and Peder had the son Stig Pedersen Krognos, who was married to Eva Olufsdatter Godov (a Holstein family). Their son was Oluf Stigsen Krognos the Rich (d. 1426) , who was married to Ellen Axelsdatter Thott, (d. 1421) , who was a daughter of Axel Pedersen Thott of Herlev and Katarina Axelsdatter Krognos, so now we are both in the family Thott and Krognos; the family Thott is also in the ancestral line IV, where Christence Axelsdatter Thott (ment. 1419), who was a daughter of Axel Jepsen Thott of Sørup and Else Christiernsdatter Vendelbo, was married to hr. Oluf Andersen Lunge of Odden. (ment. 1420-73) (see ancestral line V).

But the line back to hr. Gregers Pedersen Krognos is still intact, so I'll continue as it is in the old family-book:
